Joanne Finkle in Art of the State

M & M artist member, Joanne Finkle will exhibit a mixed media piece in the Art of the State, Harrisburg, PA.

The exhibit opens to the public on Sunday, June 17, at The State Museum of Pennsylvania.

The 45th annual exhibit runs through Sept. 9 and includes 129 works of art by 115 artists from 30 counties. This year’s exhibit received 1,836 entries from 680 artists.

The exhibit is co-sponsored by The State Museum and The Greater Harrisburg Arts Council, which present more than $7,000 in cash awards to the winners.

Joanne Finkle is an abstract non-objective painter. She paints primarily with acrylic and encaustic mediums, adding mixed media elements as needed in the development of her paintings. A love of music inspires her rhythmic use of line and the melody of shapes that dominate her art with lyrical symmetry. The flow of brilliant colors and bold value changes create moods that are felt, as well as seen, in her work. Her selected use of the right elements and principles reflect her new-found knowledge and inspiration that pervades her work.

The State Museum of Pennsylvania, adjacent to the State Capitol in Harrisburg, is one of 25 historic sites and museums administered by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission as part of the Pennsylvania Trails of History®.

Museum hours are Wednesday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, noon to 5 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for children and senior citizens.
